To the Editor:
Connecticut is in bad shape, and I don’t know how our state can recover if we push into another decade of one-party rule with a second Lamont term. Republicans have to win in 2022 because our state is at stake.
Even though party voter registration numbers don’t lean in our favor, we’ve been highly competitive in every gubernatorial election for the past ten years. However, each of those elections also ended in a close, painful, second place finish every time.
We need to nominate a leader who will not only stand up for common sense conservative solutions to turn our state around, but also someone who has shown they have the fight in them to relentlessly hold Ned Lamont accountable on the campaign trail.
It appears that Themis Klarides is leaning toward a run for governor, and I strongly urge her to jump in the race. I attended a fundraiser where Themis was the speaker. I was really drawn to her background and experience. Themis has shown she has the energy we need to hold Democrats accountable through her work as Minority Leader. Themis led her caucus in the house to block tolls on cars and passed the only minority party budget in the country in 2017. She has been at the forefront of every Republican accomplishment over the past decade, despite our status as the minority party.
Just imagine what she could do as Governor.
