Dear Editor,
We are writing to support Shannon Marimón for the West Hartford Board of Education. She is an exciting, qualified and natural fit for this position. Shannon was born in Spain and is the daughter of an educator and small business owner.
She has spent over twenty years in education, both at the K-12 level and higher education. She is presently the executive director of ReadyCT, a Hartford-based nonprofit working to close opportunity gaps and bringing career-themed opportunities to students across the Greater Hartford/Central Connecticut region.
Her colleagues describe her as thoughtful, curious, reasonable and a team player.
Personally, we have been privileged to be Shannon’s neighbors for more than ten years. We have spent myriad hours discussing educational and life issues with her. We find her quite intelligent, informed, inclusive, calm, warm, respectful, and willing to compromise.
Shannon would be a strong addition to the Board of Education, and this town is fortunate to have such a qualified candidate willing to step up to serve. We whole-heartedly support Shannon Marimon!
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Naogan Ma (former Board of Education member)
