To The Editor,

I am writing to endorse Al Cortes for the West Hartford Town Council. Al and I have known each other for over 10 years. We met while working as Corrections Officers in the Correctional Transportation Unit for the Connecticut Department of Corrections.

I am currently serving my third term in the Connecticut House of Representatives representing Connecticut’s
52nd assembly district, serving Stafford and Somers. I am the ranking member of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee, and a member of the legislature’s Insurance and Real Estate and Public Safety Committees.

Being a Corrections Officer gives you the ability to and develops your skills on how to read and understand people, how to work with them to reach compromise, and how to work in challenging situations. Skills that will serve Al well, if elected onto the West Hartford Town Council, as he discusses and debates issues with his fellow Town Councilors, town staff, and residents.

Diligent, balanced, and collaborative. These are the words that I would use to describe my friend Al.

Please vote for Al Cortes on Nov. 5.
