To the editor,

I urge you to vote for Beth Kerrigan for Town Council in 2019.

Beth’s tenure on the Council shows she supports fiscal responsibility, stewarding the best use of our tax dollars.

At the same time, she understands that elected officials do more than watch over the economic needs of our town. She understands that towns are communities that take care of one another and support one another.

Beth supports the town’s Human Rights Commission in developing a bigger celebration for Gay Pride in June 2020.

She supports development of more bike lanes, particularly on North Main Street to reinforce the idea that roadways are for pedestrians, bikes and cars.

She supports the town becoming energy self sufficient by 2030.

And she has shown support for the town’s Witness Stones Project, helping us to understand the beginnings of this town, built in part, on the labor of enslaved people. Recognizing racial through-lines, she sees that heritable wealth continues to define differences in the economic fortunes of those who live here.

Beth is not afraid to speak up for those who don’t have a voice.

Vote for her on November 5.

  • We do not need to be ashamed of the founding of West Hartford or America. Stop the apology tour. No one needs to be ashamed to be white, black, or any other ethnicity. America has made mistakes. We have done our best to recognize the past and give opportunities for all. Can we stop playing identity politics?
