To the Editor:
It has been my honor to serve on West Hartford’s Town Council for three terms – the last as Minority Leader. During my time on the Council, I have steadfastly defended residents’ family-budgets by advocating every year against the town’s unsustainable and unaffordable tax and budget increases, and raised serious concerns about the state’s ability to honor its funding obligations. I have likewise had the opportunity to intimately observe the priorities of my Town Council colleagues as we have addressed a wide-variety of issues over the years.
It is with this experience in mind that I write to strongly encourage West Hartford residents to vote to re-elect Chris Williams to the Town Council. Chris has been a constant and consistent voice advocating to decrease the tax burden on residents. He understands that these substantial increases year-over-year are unsustainable and need to be addressed immediately before the town loses control of its priorities. To this end, Chris has not been afraid to challenge the status quo and he has the courage to bring the conversation of change to the table for the benefit of the residents.
Chris Williams serves with passion and a driven commitment to make West Hartford, his hometown, affordable for all residents. He is attentive to resident concerns, works hard to understand the important issues, and is an active and engaged member of the Town Council.
On Nov. 5, I ask you to vote for my colleague, and my friend, Chris Williams, and give him the opportunity to continue to serve all of us on the Town Council.
Sincerely,
Chris Barnes
Minority Leader, West Hartford Town Council
Thank You Mr Barnes, Our taxes have doubled here in the center. This is what happens when have a majority stranglehold : “We can do what we want: they’ll vote for us again” Now you know what happened to Hartford after 47 years of the same people
