Dear Editor,
It is my pleasure to endorse my friend Mary Fay for State Representative for the 18th district. Mary is active in the West Hartford community and has been a member of the West Hartford Town Council for the past year. Mary noticed the financial problems we are having here in West Hartford and wanted to get involved to help resolve these problems. Now she wants to go to Hartford to help fix this huge crater Connecticut is in. Mary is Socially Moderate and financially responsible.
Mary is married to her wife Mary Smith and has a daughter enrolled in Morley Elementary School.
Mary is the only person running in this race who is uniquely qualified to deal with issues of pensions and healthcare. She has previously served as a senior vice president at GE Capital with responsibility for evaluating pensions and retirement plans. Additionally, she has been an executive at AIG evaluating and structuring healthcare plans.
Rather than vilifying Mary as a current Democratic town council member has done, she should be thanking Mary for crashing the glass ceiling and helping to empower women in the corporate world. I currently have a daughter in college and thanks in part to Mary I believe she will have a better opportunity in her career.
Democrats are trying to make this election about national issues. Hopefully the voters of Connecticut will see through this sad ploy. This election is NOT about national issues, it is solely about the fiscal disaster Democrats have created in Connecticut over the last 10 years.
We now need someone with experiences and background like Mary Fay to help us fix this fiscal mess. Connecticut needs real change not another Democrat who will do nothing for Connecticut or West Hartford. The big idea from Mary’s opponent to fix the fiscal issue is more taxes, install tolls, and increase fees. We do not need regressive tolls and taxes to dig a deeper fiscal hole for the citizens of our state.
I urge you to please consider the crisis Connecticut is in and place a vote for Mary Fay.
Warm regards,
Dennis J. Swanton
