Amber Green, left, and Lee Ann Richter, right, recently got together at Bartaco in West Hartford Center.

They first met 17 years ago as Little Sister (mentee) and Big Sister (mentor) in the Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters youth mentoring program. They were matched for four years and have stayed in touch ever since.

While matched, Lee Ann was in medical school at UConn and Amber was a student in local schools. Today, Amber lives in West Hartford, is a flight attendant, and is working on her RN degree. Lee Ann, who now has children of her own, is an attending physician at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC.

“I couldn’t be more appreciative of my experience with Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters,” Dr. Richter said, “and I am so thankful to have Amber in my life.”
