Bria Day, founder of Disheveled Diva, a local cloud bakery out of Hartford, was recently asked to participate in TWO events this weekend: A cake duel at the Wadsworth Atheneum for an event titled the “An Early Republic Cake-Off” AND hold a “Pop-Up @Nordstrom” in the Nordstrom store at Westfarms on Saturday.

“A weekend with two big events is exciting for me! I have been working hard to share my love of creating and baking bespoke sweet treats and I am thrilled at the opportunities in front of me,” Day said.

An Early Republic Cake-Off

Towson University’s art and culinary historian Nancy Siegel will be at the Wadsworth Atheneum leading a discussion exploring the relationship between food, drink, and politics during the American Revolution. In connection with the Wadsworth’s current exhibition Hamilton: The Art of Remaking History, Bria will take these historic recipes that Nancy has recreated, and bake two cakes representative of our nation’s earliest political parties. Guests will be able to sample the cakes to declare the winner of the ultimate Federalist versus Republican cake duel.

When/Where: Saturday, July 16, 2022, from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford

How: Tickets are limited, registration required at thewadsworth.org. $25; $10 members.

Nordstrom Neighborhood Vendor Pop-Up

Disheveled Diva will be selling a few of her signature items: Signature Buttercream Jars, Party Parfaits, and will be sampling Signature Buttercream spread onto scratch-made Rainbow Challah.

When/Where: Saturday, July 16 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Nordstrom in the Westfarms

Disheveled Diva’s deliciously imperfect creations bring smiles to faces, “wow” eyes and bellies, and bring a bit of sweetness to the community.
