The Mandell JCC’s summer site, The Swim & Tennis Club, is pleased to announce that Ben Bishop will be the new head tennis professional for the 2016 season. He will be responsible for overseeing both children’s and adult tennis programming, including the Sports Jams Camp’s tennis program, Tennis Jams, held at the Mandell JCC Swim & Tennis Club, 4 Duncaster Rd., Bloomfield, CT.

Ben Bishop brings 35+ years of tennis experience, and has been both a nationally and globally ranked tennis player. He has spent the past 20 years teaching and coaching children and adults of all ages and skill levels. At The Swim & Tennis Club, Ben will be offering private and group lessons along with a wide range of tennis programming for children and adults.

As a part of Tennis Jams, Bishop will work with campers, grades 1-8, focusing on forehand, backhand, volley, serve, scoring, and court etiquette. The camp will also feature mini-games and activities that reinforce skills in a fun environment. These weekly Tennis Jam camps include half-day and full-day options, in addition to before and after care options. Tennis Jams run from June 13 – August 26, 2016. Full-day campers are able to enjoy the pool, waterslide along with  a variety of active play as a part of their afternoon activities.

New this year at The Swim & Tennis Club, is an afternoon Junior Tennis program. Beginning June 13, 2016, the program will offer weekly drills and play training for advanced/tournament Juniors, ages 11-17. Additional options for Junior players include an intermediate program for ages 7-10, and a beginner Juniors program for ages 4-8.

For adults, Bishop offers private and group lessons, Cardio Tennis Clinics, Doubles Drill & Play, beginners classes, Tennis Scrambles, Round Robins, and more.
