Identical questionnaires have been sent to all candidates, and each profile received has been submitted directly to We-Ha.com by the candidate or the candidate’s campaign management. The responses have not been edited but have been formatted to match our publication style. Questions left blank have been deleted.

As profiles are received, they will be published on We-Ha.com under the “Government” tab. We-Ha.com is not making endorsements of any political candidates but we are publishing this information in order to assist voters in being informed and prepared when they go to the polls on Nov. 2.

If you are a candidate and wish to submit a profile, please return it by email to Ronni Newton at [email protected] as soon as possible.

Name: Lee Gold

Age: 49

Party, position seeking: A Connecticut Party of West Hartford, Town Council

Family information: I am married to Monica for over 20 years and have two school aged boys, Jack and Adam. I have been a resident of West Hartford for over 20 years.

Other occupation, if applicable: Attorney, Butler Norris & Gold, managing partner.

Political experience: I currently serve on the West Hartford Town Council and was the former minority leader.

Other relevant experience: I serve as the chairperson for the Board of the Chabad of Greater Hartford, Kingwood-Oxford Alumni Council, and member of the executive committee of the Jewish Community Relations Council. I have been very active in West Hartford Little League where I was a coach and sponsor for 9 years. I have been on the Board of Directors as the Vice President of Tumble Brook Country Club, was the President of Talcott Glen Condominium Association as well as a former member of the Board of Trustees for the Emanuel Synagogue. I am active in several bar associations, including the Connecticut Bar Association and the Hartford County Bar Association.

Why are you running for office? I first ran for office two years ago as I felt there was a need to refocus and provide more stability to our budgetary process. I will continue to maintain these efforts while at the same time promoting business expansion. We need to foster growth in the various centers that define West Hartford: Elmwood, Park Road district, Bishops Corner, Corbins Corner, and West Hartford Center. All are vibrant, bustling, and unique to the future of our Town. I want to make West Hartford a destination for present and future generations.

What issue(s) are your primary area of focus? Budget accountability, business expansion, pedestrian friendly town center, reusable energy.

What do you feel is the biggest issue facing West Hartford today, and how do you plan to address it if elected? It is necessary to look at our infrastructure and find ways to protect our Town from the destructive forces of nature. We need to balance these needs while also maintaining a balanced budget that addresses the other needs of our citizens.

What do you feel differentiates you from other candidates also running for this position? As the managing partner of Butler, Norris & Gold, I bring a unique ability of problem solving as well as understanding the needs of people working together to achieve a greater good. To this end, I have participated in the formation of A Connecticut Party of West Hartford. It is our intent to represent all of West Hartford with an independent mind, open to conversations on all issues.

Anything else you would like to share? I want to give back to West Hartford as it has provided me and my family so much over the years. I believe in the need for public service and want to help to foster a community that my children would want to return to and raise families of their own. I ask for your support and vote for and Row D on November 2nd!
