The Miracle League of CT, in partnership with the JCC in West Hartford, is excited to announce their new Adaptive Swim Program that will be offered at the JCC starting in January of 2015. There will be two sessions of 4 weeks each. The first session will be in January, the second in March with two different classes in each session.

Both classes are designed for children with special needs and each participant must be accompanied by a parent or other adult in the water for each class.

Class # 1 is called “Water Adjustment”. This class is for children ages 5-14 and is designed to boost the child’s comfort level in the water by use of music, activities, and games. The second class, “Begin to Swim” is for children ages 6-14 and focuses on swimming basics such as putting the face in the water, blowing bubbles, using a kickboard and floating on their backs. Both classes will be taught by certified instructors.

You may register by calling the JCC directly at 860-236-4571. The registration fee for each class is $40. As with all Miracle League of CT programs, we will be happy to offer fee waivers if a family is in need of financial aid. For more information about the program’s classes visit the JCC’s web site and click on http://www.mandelljcc.org/index.php.

Space is limited in both classes and registration is on a first come first serve basis. It is open to all children with special needs, you do not need to be a Miracle League player or a member of the JCC to participate.
