West Hartford Police are investigating the crash that took place Thursday evening.

The West Hartford Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating a Thursday evening crash on New Britain Avenue involving a motorcycle and a motor vehicle that resulted in the motorcyclist suffering serious injuries, police said in a press release.
The crash, which took place in the area of Interstate 84 east around 9 p.m., shut down New Britain Avenue in both directions between Ridgewood and Berkshire roads as the reconstruction team investigated, police said. The road has since reopened.
The motorcyclist was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, police said. The occupants of the motor vehicle were not injured, police said.
