On Saturday, Aug. 15, from 1-3 p.m., children ages 6-11 and their favorite doll are invited to a “Doll and Me” Tea at the Noah Webster House. The day will include afternoon tea, games, and crafts for 18-inch dolls.

Weather permitting, children will learn to play a variety of historical outdoor games like Graces, hoop and stick, and stilts. In case of rain, they will try indoor games like Lookabout, Pass the Slipper, and Change Seats.  Children are invited to wear a fancy outfit or costume.

Each child will have a choice to create a treasure box or fairy crown for their doll. Everyone will make some delicious looking doll food from clay.

After crafts and games, a tea party will take place in the museum’s reproduction 18th-century kitchen.  Children can try tea or have some old-fashioned lemonade along with some delicious cookies.

All children ages 6-11 and their dolls are invited to attend this program.  Doll and Me Tea is $20 per child, or $15 for museum members.  Registration is required.  Visit www.NoahWebsterHouse.org to register.

The Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society is a destination where citizens can learn to understand and appreciate their past and Noah Webster’s contributions to American culture. Webster was an educator and founding father best known for writing the first American dictionary. The historic house and exhibit spaces are open daily in the summer, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.  For information on the museum’s extensive school and public programs, please visit us at www.noahwebsterhouse.org or call (860) 521-5362.
