Northwest Catholic Celebrates Honors Recipients

Northwest Catholic students earning a 3.67+ cumulative average are usually celebrated with a delicious breakfast. This year the biannual Honors Breakfast is put on hold, but the school recognizes these standout students for their academic achievement. Submitted photo

West Hartford’s Northwest Catholic High School has postponed its Honors Breakfast, but still celebrates recipients.

Before the pandemic altered every school event, Northwest Catholic celebrated students who earned First Honors the previous semester with a delicious breakfast.

Each fall and spring students who earned at least a 3.67 cumulative average the previous semester would gather in the school’s Navin Dining Hall to be recognized and to enjoy a presentation by a Northwest alumnus or alumna. Like so many school events this fall, the Northwest Catholic Honors Breakfast was put on hold.

Northwest Catholic Principal Christopher Stuck had this to say about the postponed event: “Northwest Catholic has a long-standing tradition of inviting back an alumnus or alumna to speak to our highest achieving students at our Honors Breakfast. This year things are different due to the restrictions in place because of the continuing pandemic, but these adjustments should not take away from the stunning achievements of each and every student being celebrated today.”

Stuck continued, “I am very proud of the hard work and effort these students put into their studies at Northwest Catholic, particularly in the environment we find ourselves in this year. To the students: I see you, and I know how hard you are working. Keep it up.” Stuck concluded, “It’s a great day to be a Lion!”
