U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal said he and U.S. Rep. John Larson are working to pass the Social Security 2100 Act.

On the 90th anniversary of the signing of the Social Security Act, elected officials from Hartford to Washington praised the program and its impact on the country. However, the future of the program remains in doubt.

US Sen. Richard Blumenthal visited the AARP office in Hartford Thursday and described Social Security as the most effective anti-poverty program in American history, saying it works to keep women, children and the elderly out of poverty.
