West Hartford Police said an adult pedestrian sustained “apparent serious injuries” after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday evening, and as of 9:15 p.m. a portion of Sedgwick Road remained closed to traffic for the investigation.

According to police, a collision in the area of Sedgwick Road and Cornell Road was reported at approximately 6:44 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27. The incident involved a pedestrian and a passenger vehicle.

The pedestrian, identified by police only as an “adult,” was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment after sustaining serious injuries. The adult driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperating with the investigation, Capt. Peter Juda said. No information was provided about whether or not the driver was injured.

The West Hartford Police Department Traffic Crash Reconstruction Team remained on the scene investigating, and said the Sedgwick Road, between Ridgewood Road and Cornell Road, would remain closed for several hours. The area is closed to pedestrians as well, and alternative routes are encouraged.
