Dr. Hamad Ehsani and Dr. Bradfod Sherburne were guests on a We-Ha.com Facebook Live forum on COVID-19 on Tuesday, May 19.

The roundtable discussion was moderated by We-Ha.com Managing Editor Ronni Newton and John Lyons.

Dr. Hamid Ehsani, a physican at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, is on the front line of the fight against COVID-19. He is currently working in the hospital’s intensive care unit for COVID-19 patients, and provided an overview of the evolving approach to care of the most critically-ill COVID-19 patients, including use of ventilators and “proning.”

Dr. Bradford Sherburne, the medical director of Hartford Hospital laboratories, has been practicing transfusion medicine and benign hematology for 32 years. Hartford HealthCare has using blood transfusion therapy – the use of blood plasma from recovered COVID-19 patients – as part of a study and he discussed the effectiveness of the treatment.

Both physicians provided insight into the status of vaccine development.
