Plan b Restaurants announced Tuesday that they will not be renewing their leases in West Hartford, Hartford, and Springfield.

After nearly two decades on Park Road in West Hartford, Plan b will close for good on Aug. 31, according to an announcement.

Plan b Restaurants said Tuesday in a news release that it plans a “strategic realignment of its footprint,” and will not be renewing leases at three locations – West Hartford, Hartford, and Springfield.

The West Hartford location opened in 2006, and has been a fixture in town and as one of the “Park Road Restaurant Row” dining establishments. The restaurant has won many “best burger” accolades both locally and beyond for their Angus beef burgers, as well as awards for the brand which also focuses on the other “b’s” – craft beers and bourbon.

“This decision reflects a balance between fiscal responsibility and staying true to the experience our guests and teams deserve,” Allie J. Gamble, founder and CEO, said in a statement. The company said it plans to focus on “delivering its boutique dining experience, one that emphasizes craft, care, and community.”

At its peak, there were 11 Plan b locations across four states. Locations in Glastonbury, Simsbury, and Milford will remain following the Aug. 31 closing of the other three locations.

“Plan b is here to stay,” Gamble said in the announcement. “This period in time will be used to step in closer and stay focused on what we do best, bringing people together over great food, bourbon, and beer. We’re making sure the next chapter of our story is even stronger.”

According to Tuesday’s announcement, Plan b employees will receive severance pay and “Leadership is working to place team members at other restaurants.”

Gift cards will be honored at the three remaining locations, the restaurant group stated.

Plan b is part of the Locals 8 Hospitality Group, which locally also includes Butchers & Bakers in Farmington and the Diamond Pub & Grill in Glastonbury.
