West Hartford Police said that a suspect was identified and arrested Sunday in connection with a stabbing incident that left a victim with life-threatening injuries.
According to Lt. Ryan Riley, a victim of a serious stabbing arrived at an area hospital Saturday night via a private vehicle, and when West Hartford Police were noticed that the stabbing had occurred in town, a comprehensive investigation was launched with the assistance of neighboring law enforcement agencies.
Police said the suspect was identified as Lewis Martinez-Conde, 33, of West Hartford, and through their efforts he was located and arrested on Sunday morning, shortly after 11 a.m.
Police were notified on Saturday, July 13, at approximately 11:51 p.m., that a stabbing victim had arrived at a local hospital, and the injuries had reportedly occurred in the area of 154 Reed Avenue in West Hartford. “Patrol officers, detectives, and members of the Community Support Unit (CSU) conducted interviews, collected evidence, and identified a potential suspect,” Riley said in a report.
Once police identified Martinez-Conde as the suspect, he was taken into custody on Sunday morning without incident. He has been charged with first-degree assault, second-degree threatening, and second-degree reckless endangerment. He remains in custody on $1 million surety bon. pending arraignment in Hartford criminal court.
Police said the victim, who was not identified, remains in critical condition.
