Road construction season is well underway, and the Town of West Hartford has released the list of roadways scheduled for resurfacing during round No. 2, which began July 5.
The roadways, according to Town Engineer Greg Sommer, include:
- Berwyn Road
- Berwyn Lane
- Brookside Drive
- Cliffmore Road (Rustic Lane to Brookside Drive)
- Fairwood Farms Drive
- Garland Road
- North Main Street (Asylum Avenue to Wyndwood Road)
- Oakwood Avenue (Wilfred Street to Flatbush Avenue)
- Rustic Lane
“We anticipate about a week to complete the roadway milling and two to three weeks to complete the paving,” Sommer said in an email.
North Main Street and Oakwood Avenue will have posted detours during active construction, but the roads will be re-opened to traffic at the end of the work day.
“Motorists should use caution and reduce speeds while traveling on the milled surface and be alert for raised manhole structures,” Sommer advised.
A number of West Hartford streets are scheduled for complete reconstruction that includes installation of granite curbing and concrete driveway aprons, catch basin replacement, selective concrete sidewalk replacement, and repaving.
The reconstruction projects take roughly one to two months to complete. Reconstruction work began in May, and the roadways (in order) scheduled for reconstruction in 2022 include:
- Nesbitt Avenue
- Price Boulevard (Park Road to Seymour Avenue)
- Avalon Road
- Vincent Street
- Loomis Drive
- Cadwell Street
Roadways that have already been repaved in 2022 include:
- Farmington Avenue (Mountain Road to Wardwell Road)
- Mayflower Street (I-84 overpass to New Britain Avenue )
- Griswold Drive
- Penn Drive
- Drury Lane
A third round of roadway repaving will begin in September.
