The Hall High School 2019 Safe Grad Committee is excited to host the second annual “Shop the Halls” Pop Up Shopping Mall on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the cafeteria of Hall High School.

More than 45 local artisans and vendors will be present selling artwork, jewelry, clothing, holiday crafts, ornaments, and other unique items. Building upon the success of last year’s event, the committee is excited to make this an annual shopping tradition for the community.

Shop the Halls Chair Leslie Raycraft took on this role because of her passion for promoting local artisans and small businesses. “Our vendors come from all across Connecticut, including eight from West Hartford. An event like this allows them to share their products and crafts with an entirely new market. We are proud to facilitate this wonderful ‘shop local’ event.”

Shop the Halls is one of several fundraising events run by the 2019 Hall Safe Grad Committee. Each year the Safe Grad committee works to raise about $35,000 for the graduation party through direct solicitations and fundraising events.

“In planning fundraisers, we seek to offer events that benefit the community and fit into people’s typical course of activities, so it does not feel like a burden or extra expense. We hope to offer a relaxed holiday shopping alternative during a busy time of year,” said Lisa Greene, Safe Grad 2019 co-chair.

The Hall Safe Grad party is a parent-run tradition that dates back to 1986. The mission is to provide a safe, fun, substance-free environment where graduates can celebrate their big night with all of their classmates.

According to Amy Cubbage, Safe Grad 2019 co-chair, “Often, there is an increase in teens’ risky behavior during graduation time, but offering a safe, fun alternative where teens can celebrate their graduation with friends through the night – especially during the critical hours from 10 p.m.-4 a.m. – is a benefit to the entire community.”

Shop the Halls will take place from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1 in the cafeteria of Hall High School, 975 North Main St., West Hartford. Parking and admission are free. It is suggested to park in the rear of the school for ease of access to the cafeteria. Light refreshments and snacks will be available for purchase.
