Andrew Jeruss, a very special collage artist with a very special story, will be the featured artist in his first solo show at The Chase Family Gallery of the Mandell JCC of Greater Hartford, Dec. 3, 2017-Jan. 7, 2018, with an opening reception on Dec. 3, 2017 from 1-4 p.m.
Overcoming serious ongoing visual, auditory, and neurological obstacles, Andrew has become a popular local artist creating whimsical animal collages for the young and young at heart .
More than 50 original works of collage art depicting colorful and charming patterned animals carefully constructed from Andrew’s collection of textured, painted, and up-cycled papers will be on display for purchase during the holiday season.
After finishing his public school education, Andrew discovered there wasn’t a place for him in the world of employment. So he made his own way with the help of family support. His family provided a studio space in which to work and explore since Andrew had shown an aptitude for art while in school.
Andrew explored many different media but settled on collage early on. His work brings a joyful response from those who see it and this gives so much back to Andrew. He now eagerly looks forward to the time he can spend in his studio trying new ideas.
Andrew hopes you enjoy seeing his pieces as much as he enjoys creating them.
