Students and parents from across the state came to the state Capitol Wednesday to ask lawmakers to end the mask mandate immediately.

Ellen Kappes, a senior at Hall High School in West Hartford, said lockdowns and quarantines created an “intense feeling of burnout among most high school students.”

“Masks make class so impersonal that I feel like I’m looking into a sea of blank faces,” Kappes said. “No one talks to each other anymore.”

  • A huge kudos to these kids who have come out to speak on this subject. It seems they understand science much better than the adults, err politicians, who seem hell bent on keeping this an issue for longer than it needs to be.

The most ridiculous part of this is the HS sports and masking. Every HS sport picture that has been posted on this website shows how silly this rule is. Just click the Sports link up top and then look through some of the most recent pictures. Why have a rule if that is how it is followed? LOL.

Hate to say it but the joke is on “us” – the adults in the room – and more particularly our clown politicians. All we are doing is enforcing the notion in these young teens that rules don’t matter and thereby eroding future trust in government institutions. It is sad what our politicians are doing at this point….

And PLEASE do not misconstrue this as an “anti-mask” post. It is not….
