Suspect in West Hartford Sexual Assault Located After 14 Years

A suspect in a West Hartford sexual assault that occurred 14 years ago was taken into custody in the Bronx, NY, and returned to Connecticut where he now faces charges.

According to police, Raymond Albert Rodriguez, now 34, was locateed in New York City by West Hartford Police Det. Andrew Wamester. Rodriguez is a suspect in a sexual assault case involving a 15-year-old victim. Rodriguez was 19 years old at the time of the alleged incident, police said.

Rodriguez was taken into custody in the Bronx with the assistance of the New York Police Department Special Victims Unit. He was held as a fugitive from justice until he waived extradition and was returned to Connecticut on Wednesday, police said.

Rodriguez has been charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault. He is being held on $75,000 surety bond and scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 4.
