The Taste of Blue Back Square and The Center will be a unique opportunity to taste food prepared by many local restaurants all on one summer night in July. This “Taste of” event has already received so much interest that organizers are expecting a quick sell-out.

A large number of area restaurants have already committed to the event, including several that are not yet open and will be providing a preview of what diners can expect. Participating Blue Back Square & The Center restaurants to date include: Ávert Brasserie, Bar Louie, Besito Mexican, Cook and The Bear (scheduled to open in Blue Back Square this summer or early fall), The Cheesecake Factory, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, The Green Teahouse, Goldberg’s Gourmet, Hartford Baking Company, La Petite France, NoRA Cupcake, Rizzuto’s Restaurant & Bar, Thali (scheduled to open in Blue Back this summer or early fall), Treva, Vinted Wine Bar & Kitchen, and World of Beer.

Guests must pre-register by buying tickets online here for $30 each, and when they check-in at the “Taste of,” admission bracelets will be issued.

The event takes place on Wednesday, July 27 from 5 to 8 p.m., and a limited number of tickets are available. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Noah Webster House.

Blue Back Square Marketing Director Elizabeth Zigmont said her goal is to showcase all of the restaurants and give guests a chance to sample signature dishes, including a preview of dishes from several not-yet-open spots.

West Hartford Center Business Association President Barbara Karsky said that the event will include more than just food tasting. “Anyone who displays a wrist band that evening will also enjoy special promotions at participating businesses in Blue Back and The Center,” she said. Details will be posted on We-Ha.com as they become available.

Specialty vendors will be announced on Wednesday.

“It’s been great to bring the community ‘Taste of’ events in each business district of West Hartford,” said West Hartford Magazine Publisher Tom Hickey, who along with the rest of the West Hartford Magazine and We-Ha.com team has also launched Taste of Elmwood and Taste of Bishops Corner events.

Other sponsors of Taste of Blue Back Square and The Center include BNY Mellon; Becker’s Diamonds & Fine Jewelry; Eagan, Donohue, Van Dyke & Falsey
; and Robert Levine for State Rep. Special thanks also to Merchant Solutions, Taylor Rental Party Plus, First Church West Hartford, and the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce. Media Sponsors include Jewish Ledger, Turley CT Newspapers, iHeartRadio, West Hartford Magazine, and We-Ha.com.

Admission bracelets will only  be available at the door (for $40 each) IF they don’t sell out in advance. (Get tickets here) However, a sell-out is anticipated due to the number of popular restaurants involved as well as the chance for a preview of future restaurants.

I have never been to a “taste” before. What does the $30 cover?

It covers the cost of food samples from all of the participating restaurants – and the list (which will probably grow before being finalized) already includes a large percentage of Blue Back Square and West Hartford Center eateries. A few that will open later this year will be previewing some menu items. There will also be some special offers from merchants available (to be announced) to those with an admission bracelet. Soft drinks will be provided free of charge, and beer/wine will be available for purchase. Let me know if you have any other questions! ~Ronni
