The businesses that have earned the love and respect of their customers and the community will be celebrated on Thursday, Sept. 10 at the first-ever “Best of West Hartford” awards event at the West Hartford Town Hall Auditorium.

We hope you’ll join us for what should be a fabulous celebration of this town’s favorite businesses. There will also be food and an open bar (beer and wine) at the event. The event will take place from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

We-Ha.com and West Hartford Magazine launched the “Best of West Hartford” people’s choice contest five months ago with the nomination phase, and since early June you have had a chance to vote for your favorites in 32 separate categories. The list of all 152 finalists can be found here, and you can also find descriptions of each through this link to the most recent issue of West Hartford Magazine.

We say “people’s choice” because that’s exactly what the process has been. Each email address was allowed to nominate once and vote once; the editors and staff of We-Ha.com and West Hartford Magazine had nothing to do with the businesses chosen and the contest is in no way meant to award our advertisers.

We don’t even know who the winners are. Only Tom Filomeno, principal of Filomeno and Company, has access to that information. It’s under lock and key in his office, and he’s not sharing.

We will learn, as will you if you’re in the audience, when emcees Brad Drazen of NBC Connecticut and West Hartford Mayor Scott Slifka read out the winners on Thursday night.

We do have sponsors, however, and we thank them heartily and would like to highlight them for their generous support. Sponsors include Bouvier InsuranceCunningham Supply, Doctors Express Urgent Care, Jeff Hodges Landscape Contractor, Lux Bond & Green, The Mercy Community, StangerLaw.com, Sheehan-Hilborn-Breen Funeral Home, Town of West Hartford, NBC Connecticut, First Church West Hartford, and St. Brigid School/YMCA.

Tickets, which are $60 each may be purchased by clicking this link. Seating is limited, so please don’t wait until the very last minute. We don’t want you to be disappointed if you miss seeing the winners being announced at this people’s choice award show!
