In celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Connecticut Wealth Management, LLC held their annual “Think Pink” event at Barcelona Wine Bar & Restaurant in West Hartford on Thursday, Oct. 2, where guests took a “trip through Spain” enjoying Barcelona’s tapas and wine pairing.

The invitation-only event featured two Hartford Hospital breast specialists who discussed high- risk breast cancer and identifying those most at risk. Dr. Heather King and Dr. Elise Gates talked to an audience of women about ways they can be proactive and make the necessary changes in their everyday lives to decrease their chance of developing breast cancer.

“The lifestyle changes and dietary changes that women can make are not only helping to protect them from breast cancer but are also protecting them from other types of cancer and health problems,” said Dr. King. “It is so important for women to be aware of the factors that can increase their risk of developing breast cancer.”

Special guest Roberta “Bobbi” Moran, a breast cancer survivor, shared her incredibly personal story and how managing stress was vital in her battle with the disease. “Stress is a variable that we actually have much more control over than we realize,” said Moran. “Learning to breathe, meditate and use positive affirmations to create wellness can go a long way in improving our chances of living a long and healthy life.”

Moran, the Sports Information Director at The Loomis Chaffee School, now teaches her breathing and meditation techniques to women who are going through the same fight and welcomes the opportunity to share her reality with them. “I’m so grateful for the opportunity to share my experience with others. The fact that CT Wealth Management is intuitive and at the forefront of creating such a forum for this discussion is just fantastic.”
