Alright, West Hartford! It’s going to be a December to remember as we had a REALLY hard time narrowing down all the hot holiday season local events going on around town this month! The traditional TOP 8 could’ve easily been a top 25 but we’ll keep with tradition this month – so dress warmly and get ready to feel festive as We-Ha pulls out all the stops as we jingle all the way to 2020!

1. Holiday Stroll 2019

When: Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019 at 5-8 p.m.

Where: West Hartford Center and Blue Back Square

Get in the holiday spirit on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019, with West Hartford’s classic New England-style Holiday Stroll at Blue Back Square and West Hartford Center.  This free, family-friendly annual event has something for everyone. Come meet Santa and Mrs. Claus, see the Holiday tree lighting, sample lots of tasty treats, check out the window decorating contest, roast marshmallows, peek inside West Hartford’s fire trucks, enjoy our strolling Victorian carolers and so much more.  Check out the We-Ha.com post for all you need to know!

2. Wintertide! – The Choral Club of Hartford

When: Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019 at 3-4:30 p.m.

Where: First Church, West Hartford

Save the date … Saturday, Dec. 7! The Choral Club of Hartford will be presenting their Winter Concert at the First Church, West Hartford at 3 p.m. Donation $10.00

3. Blue Back Mitten Run 5K

When: Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019 at 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Where: Blue Back Square

This festive family 5K tradition welcomes runners and walkers of all ages and abilities to celebrate the season as a community. The 5K winds through West Hartford neighborhoods, lined with homes decorated for the holidays and festive shop windows. Bring the kids to participate in the HMF FitKids run – a ½-mile or 1-mile dash to Blue Back Square.

4. WHSO 2019 Holiday Concert

When: Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019 at 3-6 p.m.

Where: West Hartford Town Hall

With the season almost upon us and The West Hartford Symphony Orchestra is already perfecting your seasonal favorites! On Dec. 8, 2019, please plan to spend the day in West Hartford with family and friends enjoying Classical and Pops favorites.

5. Chanukah Fire on Ice

When: Sunday, Dec.. 22, 2019 at 4 p.m.

Where: Blue Back Square

Hundreds of residents will be joining together as they observe a master ice-carver sculpt a giant menorah, at what has become one of West Hartford’s Mega events. The super-sized menorah will be lit as part of the free event, hosted by Chabad of Greater Hartford.

6. Ballet Theatre Co. – The Nutcracker

When: Thursday, Dec. 12 – Sunday, Dec. 15 (click link above for showtimes and tickets)

Where: Hoffman Auditorium, The University of Saint Joseph

Ballet Theatre Company’s annual performance of the favorite holiday classic, The Nutcracker, will feature choreography by Stephanie Dattellas, BTC’s Artistic Director. Audiences can expect to see new costumes and sets featuring several professional performers from all over the country. 

7. West Hartford Women’s Chorale – Winter Concert 2019

When: Friday, Dec. 13, 2019 at 7:30-9:30 p.m.

Where: Trinity Episcopal Church Hartford, CT

West Harford Women’s Chorale’s winter 2019 concert, Holidays in Rhythm, features traditional holiday tunes rendered in jazz and other surprising rhythms. Tickets are $10.

8. Ragnar Relay to Spread Holiday Cheer

When: Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019 at 8:30-10 a.m.

Where: Fleet Feet West Hartford

Grab a friend and join us for one last Ragnar (mini) Relay of the year!

This two-person team relay race is designed to spread holiday cheer, burn some calories and provide Foodshare with a much-needed staple for local families in need. It will also set you up nicely to get an early-start on last-minute holiday shopping at the many wonderful local businesses in West Hartford Center.
