West Hartford has just gotten even more social, launching the Town of West Hartford Facebook page as a way to increase its connections and communications with residents and local businesses.

“Social media has become such an important platform,” Town Manager Matt Hart said. He said he thinks it’s an important way for the town to communicate with its constituents in the manner people today have come to expect.

“It’s a great way to help get information out there, and a way to expand our communications,” Hart said. Eventually he hopes to use it for job postings as well as other announcements.

Public Relations Specialist Renée McCue will be the administrator for the page. She said the page will include articles and announcements about things happening in the town. Examples she provided included the announcement of winners of the Park Road Parade and the launch of a pilot food waste recycling program.

“The new Facebook page joins the Town’s electronic news options along with Twitter (@TownofWestHrtfd), its website (WestHartfordCT.gov), and list serve as ways in which we dissemination information,” McCue said in a news release.

Hart and McCue invite the public to “Like” and “Follow” the new Town of West Hartford Facebook page which can be reached by clicking here.
