United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut and its membership group, Women United, will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Red, White & Chocolate presented by Sun Life on Feb. 16 at The Delamar in West Hartford. The event provides attendees an evening of tasting wine, spirits, and local specialty goods while raising funds to support Women United’s mission working towards the financial stability of women and families in our region.

“This is a really special year as we are celebrating the 10th anniversary of Red, White & Chocolate, and the best way to celebrate it is with the announcement that we are sold out! People can still participate through our robust gift basket drawing that has started to become quite popular and will be launching Feb. 10. We have so many types of baskets; some for relaxing and unplugged experiences, for chocolate lovers, coffee or wine lovers, family fun nights and much more. People interested in supporting this event through the drawing can buy their tickets on our website unitedwayinc.org/events,” said Jocelyn DeMaio, Red, White & Chocolate co-chair, head of Workspace & Collaboration Services at The Hartford and owner of Empowered Indoor Cycling & Strength Studio.

The event is organized by Women United, a membership group at United Way comprised of a diverse, vibrant community, bound together by a powerful sense of belonging – to each other, to United Way’s mission, and to the communities they call home. Members of Women United focus on helping women and families achieve financial security by taking action for ALICE (Asset Limited, Income-Constrained, Employed). Despite working hard, ALICE households often live paycheck to paycheck- unable to afford the basics or save for the future.

Mackenzie Manning, event co-chair and senior program manager at Leonardo DRS shared, “The event also provides local small businesses a space where they can meet and engage new customers. Some of the vendors for this year include Bridgewater Chocolate as our exclusive chocolatier, Brown Butter Creations from Glastonbury, LMG Photography taking headshots, Putnam Plaza Liquors providing wine tastings, and many more!”

A portion of the small business sales during the event goes back to Women United to support their mission helping local women and families as they work towards achieving financial security.
