The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) will host Restore. Reconnect. Reimagine: A Restorative Practices Retreat for Connecticut Educators on Aug. 13 and 14, 2026.

Rooted in accountability, empathy, and community, restorative practices guide students to take responsibility for challenging behavior and repair harm to reintegrate into their school communities. Recent legislation required Connecticut schools to adopt restorative practices starting in Fall 2025.

Great Schools Partnership, a nonprofit organization working to improve learning for all students, will facilitate the immersive retreat, which will include:

• Restorative circle processes that foster strong academic outcomes
• Practice with conflict resolution and reintegration strategies
• Tools for leading with compassion and clarity in moments of challenge
• Guidance on aligning with Connecticut’s school climate and discipline expectations
• A collaborative space to build relationships and network with other committed educators.

The retreat is designed for school superintendents, teachers, school climate coordinators, student support staff, criminal justice practitioners, and all community partners interested in learning more about restorative practices.

Registration will include breakfast and lunch on both days; tools aligned with Connecticut’s new restorative practices law; a restorative justice facilitator resource guide; and a certificate for 15 professional development contact hours.
