Screenshot

The League of Women Voters of Greater Hartford hosted a forum for West Hartford Board of Education candidates in partnership with West Hartford Community Interactive. The forum was held live on Monday, Oct. 16, in the legislative chambers of West Hartford Town Hall and recorded for future viewing on WHCi online and on their YouTube channel.

The entire forum can be viewed via the YouTube link below.

Carole Mulready, the chair of Voter Services for the League provided an introduction, and Sandy Fry of the LWVGH served as moderator for the forum.

All seven candidates were in attendance. Six of the candidates are vying for the two open four-year terms on the Board of Education while Democrat Jason Gagnon is running unopposed to fill the remaining two years of a vacancy.

Each candidate was provided 90 seconds to respond to each question – some of which were developed by the LWVGH and others of which were submitted by members of the audience. Each candidate was also given the opportunity to provide a two-minute closing statement.

The candidates for Board of Education, by party and in alphabetical order, are:

A Connecticut Party

  • Roni Rodman
  • Kristyn Rosen-Jacobs

Democratic Party

  • LaToya Fernandez
  • Jason Gagnon (to complete two years of term)
  • Shannon Marimón

Republican Party

  • Kyle Zelazny

We-Ha.com has also given all 2023 municipal candidates the opportunity to respond to a questionnaire, and will be publishing all responses as received under the “Government” tab.
