The West Hartford Chamber of Commerce will once again be offering grants to local nonprofits and is currently seeking applicants for this year’s program.

“As part of our commitment to the West Hartford Community, the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce is giving $5,000 in grant funding to provide financial assistance to nonprofit organizations that serve West Hartford residents,” Executive Director Chris Conway said in an email. “This program was made possible through the fiscally responsible management of the Chamber by WHCC staff and its Board of Directors.”

Grant applications are currently being accepted, and requests must be made by April 30 for projects or programs that will begin any time after July 1, 2019, and end on or before June 30, 2020.

According to Conway, previous recipients have included the Noah Webster House, Tri-Town YMCA, and the Universalist Church of West Hartford’s Fern Street Food Ministry.

Applicants can request grants ranging from $500-$2,500, and according to Conway will be selected based on criteria that include: alignment with the Chamber focus areas for this program, need for the project or program, projected impact on the target population from the grant, applicant organization’s need for support, budget information provided, and evidence of effective organizational management.

The project or program for which the grant is being requested must serve primarily West Hartford residents.

More details regarding the criteria can be found in the grant program RFP included in a PDF below. A copy of the grant application has also been provided.
