Hartford’s Taste of The Nation fundraiser to benefit Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign returns to the state’s capital on Sept. 30, 2018. One-hundred-percent of proceeds from the event will benefit No Kids Hungry’s work to end childhood hunger in America.
Hosted at the historic Goodwin Hotel, the annual culinary event will again be led by Chef Chair Tyler Anderson, chef/owner of Millwright’s Restaurant, The Cook and The Bear, and Porrón&Piña, and Event Co-Chair Angela Pitrone of Deloitte and will feature gourmet cuisine and libations handcrafted by the areas most renowned chefs, sommeliers, and mixologists. In addition, an exciting lineup of more than 10 “Cheftestants” from the hit show “Top Chef “ have all come together to make this year’s event the best yet.
Guests will enjoy a walk around format where they can taste scrumptious small bites and delicious drinks, as well as gourmet desserts. There will also be a book signing by Jacques Pépin, an internationally recognized French chef, television personality, and author.
“One of the things I love most about being a Chef is the ability we have to give back and raise money for charities like Share our Strength,” Anderson said.

One in six children in America struggles with hunger, including more than one in six kids in Connecticut. No Kid Hungry is ending childhood hunger nationwide by ensuring that kids start the day with a nutritious breakfast, and that families learn the skills they need to shop and cook on a budget. Since the campaign’s launch, No Kid Hungry and its partners have connected kids struggling with hunger to more than 775 million meals.
In 2017, Hartford’s Taste of the Nation for No Kid Hungry raised enough to connect hungry kids in need with approximately 450,000 healthy meals.
Local beneficiaries include Foodshare, Inc.; End Hunger Connecticut; Community Health Network of CT Foundation; and FoodCorps
Hartford’s Taste of the Nation to benefit No Kid Hungry is supported by national co-presenting sponsors Citi and Sysco, national media sponsor Food Network, and national sponsor OpenTable.
