The West Hartford Community Fund at the Greater Hartford Gives Foundation has that it is now accepting grant applications for projects that strengthen the wellbeing, vibrancy, and resilience of the West Hartford community. Applications opened on July 31, 2026, and are due Sept. 4, 2026, at 5 p.m. EST.

The West Hartford Community Fund Committee is a group of volunteer residents who help identify local needs, shape grant priorities, and review proposals for projects that enhance quality of life in West Hartford. The committee makes grant recommendations to the Greater Hartford Gives Foundation. In the most recent grant cycle, the Fund awarded over $45,000 to eight local organizations, with individual grants ranging from $2,500 to $10,000. These awards supported programs that expand access to services and strengthen the fabric of West Hartford.

Since launching Community Funds in 2019 in each of the 29 towns it serves, including West Hartford, Greater Hartford Gives has supported more than 1,000 grants totaling more than $4 million (through the end of 2025) – funding projects that directly benefit town residents and reflect community priorities and lived experience. The program began with a $100,000 investment per town in 2019 and has continued with additional investments in 2021 and 2025, including funds available for immediate grantmaking and long-term endowment.
