West Hartford’s two public golf courses have announced opening dates for the 2025 season.

Spring is in the air, and the West Hartford Director of Leisure Services & Social Services Helen Rubino-Turco announced Thursday that the 9-hole Buena Vista Golf Course will reopen for the 2025 season on Friday, March 14, while the 18-hole Rockledge Golf Club course will open on Thursday, March 20.

Tee times will be able to be reserved online here and are on a first-come, first-serve basis. Because the weather can be unpredictable, hours may be adjusted but are currently planned to be 8 a.m. until dusk. The practice greens and Golf Shop will also reopen for regular seasonal hours. Season passes and discount passes are available for sale.

According to Rubino-Turco, the new driving range at Rockledge will be constructed this spring, but an estimated completion date is not yet available.

The construction of a new, covered 17-bay driving range building as well as two teaching bays was scheduled to have been completed by the fall of 2024. However, it was discovered that the soil underneath the intended structure was not suitable for construction and the town is currently engaged in the process of hiring a contractor for excavation and installation of 12 rammed aggregate piers and the foundation for the driving range structure.

More information about Rockledge Golf Club and Buena Vista Golf Course can be found on the website.

Any questions can be directed to the Golf Shop, at 860-561-8280.

The opening of the golf course means that for safety reasons the trails on the Rockledge Golf Course that the public uses for walking and running during the off-season – as well as cross country skiing and snowshoeing when there is snow – are closed for the season.
