West Hartford’s Conard and Hall high schools have completed the first week of regular season competition. All sports other than football have competed, and both Conard and Hall kick off the football season Friday night, Sept. 19.

Both Hall and Conard boys soccer teams are undefeated after three games, and the Conard girls soccer team and both field hockey teams are also undefeated.

Conard girls cross country is off to a strong start. Sophomore Gwen Geisler took first place in her very first meet, running 20:15 at the West Hartford reservoir on Sept. 9. The Conard girls team also took an unexpected second place in the Varsity 1 meet at the Windham Invitational on Sept. 13, with all seven varsity runners (Geisler, Eve Gilles, Lindsay Chen, Emma Oriol, Nora Dynowski, Eli Hinerfeld, and Margaret Byrne) finishing in the top 50.

The Hall boys cross country team finished in first place in the Varsity 1 meet at the Windham Invitational, with Grant O’Connor taking third place.

Sept. 9, vs. East Catholic won 5-1

Sept. 16, vs. Farmington tied 1-1

Hall field hockey:

Sept. 11 vs. Windsor, won 6-1. Hall goals scored by:  3 – Kailey Kennedy, 1 – Jenna Behan, 1- Lessie Mitrano, 1 – Josie LaForte
