A single-family home on Beverly Road is temporarily uninhabitable following a fire that broke out Monday afternoon.
Deputy Chief Neal Sinatro said dispatchers received calls about flames visible from the second floor of a single-family residence. “We arrived on scene in under two minutes and confirmed that we had fire blowing out a window on the third floor of the right side of the home,” Sinatro told We-Ha.com.
Firefighters were advised that no occupants remained in the house and units began an “aggressive interior fire attack,” Sinatro said, coordinated with a primary search that confirmed there were no occupants or pets inside the home.
The fire was quickly extinguished, but according to Sinatro crews “really had to do a lot of overhaul work,” including opening up the ceiling because the blaze had extended into the attic space. They also had to cut a hole in the roof, he said.

The cause and origin are under investigation by the West Hartford Fire Marshal, but Sinatro said it appears the fire may have started on the third floor.
According to Sinatro, there were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.
The house is currently uninhabitable due to fire, smoke, and water damage, Sinatro said. He said the fire broke the attic window open, and there was some impact on the home next door, where the heat of the blaze slightly melted some of the siding.
The UConn Health Center Fire Department assisted at the scene, and West Hartford Police and American Rescue were also present to provide assistance.
