A stray bullet believed to have been fired several blocks away in Hartford went through the front window of a West Hartford home Saturday night, hit a wall, and landed on the floor, police said.

No one inside the multi-family home on Prospect Avenue was injured, West Hartford police said.

“We’re fairly certain that shots were fired in Hartford,” Capt. Michael Perruccio said Monday. He said that Hartford police are investigating shots fired on Chadwick Street, and it appears that one of the bullets fired there made a beeline for West Hartford.

West Hartford Police were called to the scene at 11:08 p.m. Saturday. They found the bullet on the floor on the residence.

Perruccio said that Hartford Police located several shell casings on South Whitney Street, near Chadwick Street. Further information was not available.

The incident remains under investigation.
