Just a few hours after a “closed” sign was posted on the door of MOOYAH in West Hartford’s Bishops Corner, the signs above the front and back doors to the restaurant were removed.
Matt Rusconi, who with his franchise partner Dave Vorchheimer opened the fast-casual burgers and shakes restaurant MOOYAH, in the shopping center that includes Big Y at 722 North Main St. in March of 2012, confirmed the decision to close when the five-year lease ended.
“We are happy to have had the opportunity to serve West Hartford and be part of the community for the past five years, but at this five-year mark, we have made a business decision to close,” Rusconi said.
Rusconi is thankful to West Hartford patrons for their support of MOOYAH – as well as the other franchise restaurant he and Vorchheimer owned in West Hartford. The two were owners of Moe’s Southwest Grill in Blue Back Square, which closed on May 5, 2016.
Rusconi and Vorchheimer still own the MOOYAH at 24 Fenn Rd. in Newington, as well as MOOYAH – and a Moe’s Southwest Grill – in Storrs Center.
Edens, the owner of the Bishops Corner shopping center where MOOYAH was located, could not comment on the closing or any other possible tenants for the space.
