West Hartford Police said Tuesday that two suspects have been taken into custody in connection with a residential burglary that occurred Monday evening, and the investigation remains active and ongoing.

According to Capt. Daniel Moffo, police were notified on Monday, Nov. 14 at 7:17 p.m. of an active residential burglary in the Balfour Drive area.

Officers responded and were quickly able to locate and stop a motor vehicle that had reportedly been seen leaving the area of the burglary, Moffo said. Three people were in the car, and police were able to detain two of them at the scene, while the other fled on foot.

A large police presence was observed by residents in the area of Balfour Drive, Mountain Road, Westmont Street, Hunter Drive at Canal Road, and Orchard Lane, as a perimeter was established by police. A K-9 team and a drone were used to attempt to locate the third suspect, who was not found.

According to Moffo, police were able to locate evidence connecting the two suspects who were apprehended to the burglary. They are currently in custody but their identities have not yet been released by police.

While there is no physical description or details about the clothing worn by the outstanding suspect, police are actively seeking input from the community – including home video surveillance footage – that may have captured images or could assist with the identification of the suspect who remains at large, as well as other details about the incident.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has additional information is asked to call the West Hartford Police Department at 860-523-5203, or use the anonymous tip line 860-570-8969 or email  [email protected].
