West Hartford Police Identify Victim Involved in Fatal Crash

West Hartford Police said on Monday that they are still actively investigating a crash that fatally injured a pedestrian last Friday.

West Hartford Police on Monday identified the individuals involved in a motor vehicle crash on Friday, June 3, which resulted in the death of a pedestrian.

Sgt. Amanda Martin said in an email that the 61-year-old male pedestrian who was fatally injured has been identified as Bob Oneal of Hartford.

Police said the female driver who struck Oneal was a 67-year-old West Hartford resident. Police provided her name, but We-Ha.com is choosing not to publish it.

The crash happened at the intersection of Farmington Avenue and North and South Main streets at 10:08 a.m. Friday. Both Oneal and the driver were transported to a local hospital, police said. The injuries sustained by Oneal were fatal, while the driver’s injuries were determined to be minor.

Police have not provided specific details regarding how the incident occurred, and have not indicated if there will be any charges filed.

The incident remains under active investigation by the West Hartford Police Traffic Division, and police ask that anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident contact 860-570-8860, the anonymous tip line at 860-570-8969 or at the confidential email tip line [email protected].

  • just wanted to make you aware that an internet search related to this accident brings up this We-ha article and in the blurb the other drivers name is listed, but obviously in your article you have respectfully omitted it. just wanted to give an FYI

  • The town has invested a lot of money in traffic cameras to what end? If this whole accident wasn’t captured on video it was a waste, but not a surprise.
