West Hartford Police are urging residents to be extra vigilant about locking doors and securing their property after an unusual number of burglaries have occurred during the past few weeks.

According to police, there have been eight storage bins/units burglarized between Nov. 12 and Nov. 23. Four of those were located at 712 Farmington Ave.

During the same period, 11 vehicles were burglarized in West Hartford. In most cases, property was taken from vehicles that were left unlocked.

Police say that they are adding extra patrols in the affected areas and are also talking to residents and advising them to remember to lock and secure their property.

Residents are also instructed to immediately call the police department if they see something “not normal.”
