West Hartford St. Patrick’s Day Committee to Celebrate Parade Marshal and Honoree

Two West Hartford residents will be honored at an event on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023.

The two West Hartford residents who have been chosen to represent the town at this year’s Hartford St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be honored at a reception and fundraiser on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at West Hartford Town Hall.

Ed Carr has been selected as West Hartford’s marshal for this year’s parade, and Eric Feeney has been chosen as the honoree. Both will are great examples of the town’s commitment to giving back tot he community, and will represent the West Hartford contingent at the Hartford St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 11.

Carr is one of the founders of the West Hartford Black Hearts Rugby Club, which is open to high school boys ages 14-19. The club was founded in 2010 and participates in matches throughout the state.

Feeney is the founder of Friends of Feeney, a nonprofit organization that assists children and families in the community that need assistance following tragic or heartbreaking situations.

Both Carr and Feeney become the latest in a long line of individuals who have done a great job representing West Hartford in the annual parade, committee organizer John Staunton said. West Hartford traditionally has one of the largest contingents in the parade, which has been held for more than 50 years and includes representatives from towns throughout Greater Hartford.

The Jan. 28 event will begin at 6:30 p.m. at West Hartford Town Hall, with a presentation scheduled for 7 p.m. The event is BYOB, and attendees should also bring their own snacks. The cost is $25 per person, and entertainment will be provided by Billy Eagan and the Rising.

A raffle will be held.

“Come celebrate Ed and Eric at West Hartford Town Hall,” Staunton said.

The Hartford St. Patrick’s Day Parade will step off from the State Capitol at 11 a.m. on March 11, 2023. For more details about this year’s parade, click here.
