West Hartford Symphony Orchestra to Conclude 20th Season with Pops Concert

The West Hartford Symphony Orchestra will hold its annual spring Pops Concert on May 20.

The West Hartford Symphony Orchestra is ending its 20th anniversary season with a Pops Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, at Roberts Theater on the Kingswood Oxford School campus.

This year’s closing concert will feature Abby White, mezzo-soprano at the Hartt School, and also pay tribute to our past and present military veterans by having the performance on Armed Forces Day, always the third Saturday of May.

This concert marks the accomplishment of co-founders financial businessman James Kilian and Artistic Director Richard Chiarappa, who collaborated in 2002 to form the town’s community orchestra, calling it the West Hartford Symphony Orchestra (WHSO). Since then, the WHSO has performed at the West Hartford Town Hall, Roberts Theater, the Rice Theater at Northwest Catholic High School, and Conard High School.

The orchestra performs its annual Children’s Concert at Conard in April for hundreds of West Hartford’s third graders, many of whom have become members of the orchestra years later. Between scheduled season concerts, the orchestra has traveled out of town to perform at Middletown High School and Eastern Connecticut State University.

For tickets, please visit the website at whso.org. The address for the concert is Kingswood Oxford, 170 Kingswood Road, West Hartford, CT.
