Here is a great opportunity to see and hear George Gershwin’s iconic “Rhapsody in Blue” performed live in the lovely Hoffman Auditorium next to the unique Bruyette Athenaeum on the University of Saint Joseph campus.
The West Hartford Symphony Orchestra opens its 22nd season on Oct. 20, 2024, featuring pianist Kevin Schwarz playing Gershwin’s famous “Rhapsody.” Schwarz is one of the newest, and youngest, members of the orchestra.
Also on the program will be Aaron Copland’s foot-stomping Hoe-Down and Antonin Dvorak’s beautiful Symphony No. 8.
The concert is called “New Beginnings” because the WHSO will have a temporary home this season with three of the four concerts being performed at the Hoffman Auditorium on the University of Saint Joseph campus. Tickets for the concert can be purchased on the WHSO.org website, by calling the office at 860-521-4362, and in the auditorium’s lobby on the day of the concert. Senior and student price is $15.00. General admission is $20.00. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 3 p.m.
