The 2017 “baseball year” for the West Hartford Youth Baseball League (WHYBL) was one of the most successful in the league’s 68-plus-year history.

The Spring recreational season was the league’s most fun and competitively balanced ever. During the summer, the Travel programs took things to a level never seen before in West Hartford – including winning the town’s first ever New England Championship and a trip for the 10U Bulldogs to the Cal Ripken World Series. In the Fall, two 12U teams made it a clean sweep of the 50/70 division in the Central CT Fall Baseball League.

The 2018 year promises to be even more exciting and fun! WHYBL has something for all boys and girls ages 4-12 wanting to explore and play the game of baseball. Registration is now open for the 2018 spring recreational season. Click here now to get started and take advantage of “Early Bird” prices listed below.

  • Training League (ages 4-6): $30
  • Instructional League (ages 7-8): $75
  • Minor League (mostly ages 9-11): $150
  • Major League (mostly ages 11-12): $175

Latest News and Upcoming Events

Dec. 17, WHYBL’s 2018 Bat Demo Day: Beginning with the 2018 Spring season, all youth baseball bats will have new regulations and specifications, making all bats purchased in 2017 or before ineligible. WHYBL will have coaches and bat representatives on hand to show off several of the new models for 2018 and throw live batting practice to any young players in the area wanting to test the new bats. Attendees could have a chance to win a free 2018 bat or a free one-hour hitting lesson! WHYBL partners/sponsors from Dick’s Sporting Goods, WIP Fitness, and Two Guys Sports will all be there for this exciting event.

Indoor Facility Renovations: Early in 2017 WHYBL opened their own indoor baseball facility – the only one of its kind for West Hartford youth sports. This past year coaches and volunteers spent countless hours providing free winter clinics and instruction to players, an added benefit of playing in the WHYBL. The league recently completed renovations that include an additional (third) batting cage, an enhanced pitching area with new mounds/tunnel space, and an overall new look.

New Partnership: WHYBL’s new partners from Perry Brothers Baseball will also be on site for the bat demo day on Dec. 17. The Perry Brothers, heads of the CT Moose baseball program, will offer professional training and clinics in WHYBL’s facility (beyond the usual free clinics offered by the league each Winter) to league players at a discounted rate, if desired.
