West Hartford Youth Football Semi-Final Playoff Game Summaries

Scores and highlights of West Hartford Youth Football games played Nov. 12-13, 2016.

The West Hartford Youth Football League (WHYFL) kicked off their Week 11 semi-final playoff matchups with games at Conard High School in West Hartford, Farmington High School, and at Southington Recreation Park. The weekend included a full slate of games at the Mighty Mite (7, 8 and 9 year olds), Pee Wee (10 and 11 year olds), and Pony (12, 13, and 14 year olds) divisions.

Pony/A Level

#2 seed Brewer Paving Eagles 38, #4 seed Northstar Wealth Partner Raiders 18 – The #2 seed Brewer Paving Eagles won their eighth straight game with a 38-18 victory over the Northstar Wealth Partner Raiders in the semi-final round of the Pony / A Division playoffs Sunday morning at Conard High School. The Brewer Paving Eagles (8-2) advance to the championship game where they will face the #6 seed Park Tavern Chargers (4-5). The Northstar Wealth Parner Raiders finish their 2016 season 5-5.

#6 seed Park Tavern Chargers 14, #1 seed Farmington Blue 7 – The Park Tavern Chargers upset top seeded Farmington Blue with a 14-7 defensive victory Sunday afternoon at Farmington High School. The victory by the Chargers snapped Farmington Blue’s six game win streak. The Park Tavern Chargers (4-5) advance to the championship game where they will face the #2 seed Brewer Paving Eagles (8-2) Sunday at Conard High School. Farmington Blue finishes their 2016 season with a 7-2 record.

#2 seed Brewer Paving Eagles vs. #6 seed Park Tavern Chargers

Sunday, Nov. 20, 1 p.m. at Conard High School

 

Pee Wee/B Level

#1 seed Southington Panthers 50, #4 seed Southington Steelers 20 – The Southington Panthers won their seventh straight game with a 50-20 semi-final victory over the Southington Steelers Saturday afternoon at Southington Recreation Park. The #1 seed Southington Panthers (8-1) advance to the championship game vs. #2 seed Farmington Blue (7-2) Saturday at Southington Recreation Park. The Southington Steelers finish their 2016 season 6-4.

#2 seed Farmington Blue 12, #3 Macca Plumbing Giants 6 – In a hard fought defensive battle, Farmington Blue won their fourth straight game with a 12-6 victory over the Macca Plumbing Giants in the semi-final round of the Pee Wee / B Division playoffs Sunday afternoon at Farmington High School. The #2 seed Farmington Blue (7-2) will advance to the championship game where they will face the #1 seed Southington Panthers (8-1) Saturday afternoon at Southington Recreation Park. The Macca Plumbing Giants finish their 2016 season 6-4.

Pee Wee Division Championship

#1 seed Southington Panthers vs. #2 seed Farmington Blue

Saturday, Nov. 19, 2 p.m. at Southington Recreation Park.

 

Mighty Mite/C Level

#1 seed Beachland Tavern Jets 25, #4 seed Fischman Orthodontics Cowboys 0 –

The Beachland Tavern Jets leveraged a strong ground game and tough defense en route to a 25-0 semi-final victory over the Fischman Orthodontics Cowboys Sunday afternoon at Conard High School. The #1 seed Beachland Tavern Jets (8-1) advance to the championship game where they will play the #3 seed Southington Lions Sunday at Conard High School. The Fischman Orthodontics Cowboys finish their 2016 season 5-5.

#3 seed Southington Lions 18, #2 seed Southington Dolphins 6 – The Southington Lions avenged a regular season loss with a 12-6 semi-final victory over the Southignton Dolphins Saturday afternoon at Southington Recreation Park. The #3 seed Southington Lions (7-3) will advance to the championship game vs. the #1 seed Beachland Tavern Jets (8-1) Sunday at Conard High School. The Southington Dolphins finish their 2016 season 6-4.
