West Hartford Youth Football – Week Eight Game Summaries

Scores and highlights of West Hartford Youth Football games played Oct. 22-23, 2016.

The West Hartford Youth Football League (WHYFL) kicked off Week 8 of its 61st this weekend with games at Sterling Field in West Hartford, Farmington High School, and at Southington Recreation Park. The weekend included a full slate of games at the Flag (5, 6, and 7) Mighty Mite (7, 8 and 9 year olds), Pee Wee (10 and 11 year olds), and Pony (12, 13, and 14 year olds) divisions. In addition, the league welcomed the return of cheerleading and an integrated schedule with the Farmington Valley Mudhogs and Southington Valley Midget Football League at all tackle division levels.

Pony/A Level

Northstar Wealth Partner Raiders 42, Southington Chargers 0 – The NorthStar Wealth Partner Raiders leveraged a strong ground game and stingy defense on their way to a 42-6 victory over the Southington Chargers Saturday Night at Hall High School. Namar Gaynor, Johnny Calcaterra, Emmett Coco, Rowan Sierra, and Kevin Kirklin each scored for the Raiders. The Northstar Wealth Partner Raiders also received a strong showing from Will Tousignant, Will Gaumer, Ethan Tiffany, Izzy Henriquez, Nathaniel Cavo, Christian Maldonado, and solid blocking from Walker Beverly, Eziah Henriques, Scott LaBranch, Rowan Sierra, and Tommy LaSpada. The Northstar Wealth Partner Raiders (4-4) have a bye this week, while the Southington Chargers (0-7) will play the Southington Patriots (4-3).

Brewer Paving Eagles 40, Park Tavern Chargers 16 – The Brewer Paving Eagles won their fifth straight game with a 40-16 victory over the Park Tavern Chargers Sunday afternoon at Sterling Field. The Brewer Paving Eagles (5-2) will matchup with Farmington Black (3-3), while the Park Tavern Chargers (2-4) will play Farmington Blue (6-1).

Farmington Blue 15, Farmington Black 13 – Farmington Blue outlasted Farmington Black 15-13 Sunday afternoon at Farmington High School. Farmington Blue (6-1) will close out their regular season next weekend versus the Park Tavern Chargers (2-4), while Farmington Black (3-3) will move on to play the Brewer Paving Eagles (5-2).

 

Pee Wee/B Level

Southington Steelers 41, Dick’s Sporting Goods Patriots 7 – The Southington Steelers defeated the Dick’s Sporting Goods Patriots 41-7 Sunday afternoon at Sterling Field. The Southington Steelers (5-2) will close out their regular season versus the Southington Panthers (6-1), while the Dick’s Sporting Goods Patriots (0-6) will play Farmington Maroon (0-7). 

Southington Panthers 51, West Hartford Health & Rehab Colts 6 – The Southington Panthers defeated the West Hartford Health & Rehab Colts 51-6 Saturday afternoon at Southington Recreation Park. The Southington Panthers (6-1) will move on to play the Southington Steelers (5-2), while the West Hartford Health & Rehab Colts (4-4) have completed their regular season.

Farmington Blue 39, Farmington Maroon 14 – Farmington Blue defeated Farmington Maroon 39-14 Sunday afternoon at Farmington High School. Farmington Blue (4-2) will move on to play the Macca Plumbing Giants (5-2), while Farmington Maroon (0-7) will play the Dick’s Sporting Goods Patriots (0-6).

Southington Lions 8, Beachland Tavern Jets 7 – The Southington Lions and Beachland Tavern Jets locked horns for a great game Saturday afternoon at Southington Recreation Park, with the Lions outlasting the Jets 8-7 in a well played game by both teams. The Jets (6-1) will move on to play the Bishop Photo Browns (2-5), while the Southington Lions (5-2) will close out their regular season versus the Southington Dolphins (4-3).

Southington Dolphins 51, Bishop Photo Browns 12 – The Southington Dolphins defeated the Bishop Photo Browns 51-12 Saturday afternoon at Southington Recreation Park. The Southington Dolphins (4-3) will play the Southington Lions (5-2) while the Bishop Photo Browns (2-5) will close out their regular season versus the Beachland Tavern Jets (6-1).

Macca Plumbing Cowboys 41, Watts Group Steelers 19 – The Macca Pluming Cowboys returned to their winning ways with a 41-19 victory over the Watts Group Steelers Sunday afternoon at Sterling Field. The Macca Plumbing Cowboys (4-3) will move on to play Farmington Black (2-4), while the Watts Group Steelers (1-6) have a bye this week.
