It’s Throwback Thursday (#tbt), and time to take a look back into West Hartford’s past to either stir up some memories, reflect on how much things have changed, or both. And if you have no idea, we love the photo captions, too!
I guess it was just Friendly’s that got everyone talking. There was really just one comment about last week’s image (at right and in larger size below), even though it was also of a restaurant.
Lisa Petersen did provided this lone comment on Facebook: “Corner of Park Road and Prospect Avenue – it’s where the Prospect Cafe was. After the time in this picture that corner store was a Subway restaurant (in the 1970s).”
This spot, which has been vacant for nearly two years, will once again be home to the Prospect Café, which will be reopening later this spring. Click here for that story in case you missed it!
Does anyone know the name of the corner store that sold Roessler’s hot dogs?
On to this week … I hope that someone remembers some of these stores (shown in photo at right and in larger size below)!
Does anyone know what street this is? What is there now?
Please share your thoughts and memories below. Captions are, of course, always welcome.
Thank you to the Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society for providing us with the images. For more information about the organization, visit www.noahwebsterhouse.org.
